Our passion is to create memorable items from the wide range of both native and exotic timbers available in New Zealand, and to share our skills with others such as yourself.

The Waikato Guild of Woodworkers is pleased to announce our 2021 Demonstration Day. Come along and watch Geoff Irving, Roger Dean, Fred Irvine and Keith Lang demonstrate elements of woodturning, carving, embellishment plus more. This is an unique opportunity to learn from four of New Zealand’s very best woodcrafter’s.

What will the Day Deliver?

Demonstration 1 commences 9:00am
Geoff Irving will demonstrate turning of a Fetal Stethoscope and his signature piece, the Kaitiaki or Spirit a form displayed in the front window of ArtsPost Gallery.

Demonstration supported by a brief PowerPoint presentation

Morning Tea                              10:20am

Demonstration 2 commences 10:50am
Fred Irvine’s demonstration is yet to be confirmed, you know it will be good.

Lunch                                         12:10pm
Members tools and surplus wood table will operate. You can bring along your surplus tools and wood for sale.

Demonstration 3 commences   1:10pm
Roger Dean will show us different ways to carve a Garden Rose. He will cover more detail on whittling and the ramifications of making a bowl that has whittled links as the bowl base

Afternoon Tea                              2:40pm

Demonstration 4 commences                      3:00pm
Keith Lang will be demonstrating techniques of tool control. He will take requests from the floor and show you some take home projects to practice with.
